Really neat pub that has an air of grandfather’s library. Cushy seating and very quiet during the afternoon on weekdays. Can’t really speak for how busy the pub gets after work hours, but no reservation was needed.
There was some sort of gin promotion happening when I visited, although it was very much an average gin.
At £12 for an award-winning kidney pie it feels a bit steep, considering that other places have pies at half the price and taste 80% as good.
Ah the steak and kidney pie… Gravy was top notch, the pie filling was good… But the pastry and chips weren’t super memorable. Not sure if I’ll spend another £12 for the same pie again!
